Excursion Front Differential, Type and Value??
Hi all, need some quick help. Can anyone tell me what type of front differential is in my 2000 V10 Excursion, (dayna 50 or 60 I have heard) and what the value is for a used front differential including the axles. Thanks in advance!

I'm in the process of parting out a tree fell on me 2000 X and someone offered $400 for the front differential, with the shafts, and $100 for the rear. I know the rear is too low imho but the front I'm not sure on, that's why I figured I'd ask here.

4.88 gears is what I should have got to run my 44's. I went 5.13's and its too much so I may have to lift more and run 47's

The 3.7's are pretty standard and give the best mileage on the average truck but there are a lot out there, and the higher the #, the lower the gearing so a 4.10 would be better for towing etc. A 3.73 ratio gear-set will spin the pinion gear 3.73 times for every 1 spin of the ring gear etc. The lower (higher numerically) the ratio is the more RPM the engine will spin at a given MPH.

And Ford just arbitrarily put these rears in different trucks with no rhyme or reason? I mean my 02 has 3.73's. 2 of the three 00 have 3.73's and the third 00 has 4.3's. No rhyme, no reason, just that they felt like doing that? Sorry if I sound stupid, just trying to grasp the concept.
