hey fellas,i had an intake /cam delema ,,and now i think it may be worse? a friend of mine has a brand new edelbrock 600 cfm performer carb,as has more or less offered it to me for free!,,to get to the point ,,600cfm+460 just dont sound right,,could it work?.....i was planning on getting the edelbrock performer intake#2166/cam#2167 kit ,all the motor( 1977) will have done ,,is (d3ve heads)port/polish,milled for straightness,and new valves(standard),and a brand new set of flat tops,(standard),no other performance mods,for now,,so do you think i can squeeze enough fuel out of this carb for the motor?maybe some jetting,and such? please say yes ,,thanks ,,tom

A 600cfm will work on a 460ci. The result will most likely be a cripsier throttle response and less horsepower in the upper RPMS. As for an Edelbrock Performer carb, I'd say free is about right: they're pretty much junk, especially on a 4x4. I replaced my old Q-jet with a Performer on my FJ40's Chevy 350 and couldn't go on any inclines without it stalling the motor. I took it back off and had the Q-jet rebuilt--much better! You probably want more CFM anyhow. An Edelbrock version of the Q-jet would do nicely (750cfm) or most any Holley. Good luck.
