On my '97 daily driver, the EBP tube runs up behind the HPO resevoir, and the sensor is mounted at the top of the resevoir. On the '97 truck I'm using as the donor for my cc, the EBP tube goes in front of the resevoir, and the mount for the sensor is on the cover you remove to get to the gear bolt for the HPOP. I looked at the '94.5 and Tyler's '97, and they are both like my '97 daily driver, with the sensor up on top and behind the resevoir. The '97 donor truck is the odd one. Why would it be different? Was that configuration specific to a certain year, and if so, I wonder if the engine has been changed in the donor.......
On the 02 Superduty I changed an HPOP on recently, the EBP was mounted as you describe. I think my 97 is like your's, but I can't recall for certain. My thought is that the the style was swapped to the new style(either broken, or just wanted a new one instead of cleaning it etc.), or they swapped in a SD motor.
My 97 is like your DD is, behind. The E99 I just worked on was in front. The change happened partway through 97.
I thought maybe that was it, so out of curiosity, I went out and looked at the dates a few minutes ago. My DD is 4/97, Tyler's '97 is 5/97, and the donor truck is 6/97. So I guess that was the changing point.
you are right it is a late 97 thing same with the top engine cover same as the 99 nbs covers ford beefed up the blocks in late 97 hence all the changes they made towards the nbs trucks

I didn't know they beefed up the blocks! What exactly did they do? This is good to know, thanks Ronnie!!!
i had to logon to ford to retreive this tsb number as i couldnt find it but here is the article happy readings as you got the same block as i do! i took this engine out of my 1997 because it was in pristine conditon for 280000 miles while the 1996 was rusted out but running and it had the better block TSB 97-13-20 - 1994-1997 Power Stroke FAQ

Thanks a bunch for that info Ronnie! I tried to rep you but couldn't. I didn't realize they made that many changes. That should be a good engine to build for my cc!!
thanks people always ask me why i got rid of the 96 motor and put in a motor that had 25k more i tell em it is the better block! also got a ton of spare parts off the other motor so it is a win win for me
I repped Rodney for you. 97 blocks are the best to get ahold of.
Thanks bud!

By the build dates on the three '97s here, it is 6/97 or later. I'll have to start looking at the dates when I'm looking at parts trucks!
