tranny swap?
hi ,im kind of curious if i can take two c-6 trannys (1977)one 4wd and one 2wd,and swap the tailshaft housing from the bad 4wd tranny to the good 2wd trans,,or do i have to have all the guts swapped,,anyone tried or done this before? thanks alot ,tom

"Extension" means "transmission housing extension", i.e., the back end that bolts on to the main section. The output ("tail") shaft is inside it. Most '80-96 Ford truck transmissions can be converted from 2 to 4WD or back by changing these 2 parts, but as ecarter50 said, it often requires extensive disassembly.
