Is it possible to get a shorter antenna? I just purchased a 2013 F150 and the antenna hits the support beams in my office parking garage. It is annoying. I wondering if I can get a shorter antenna to solve the issue. Has anyone else had this issue?
Will this have any effect on the radio or Surius reception?
On my '12, the Sirius antenna is the black puck like thing on the roof on the right side.I suppose if you don't listen to AM/FM, you could basically just take it off. I don't listen to regular radio myself, all i can get is country and top 40 crap up here. So, really, I don't even know if the regular radios works! LOL
Same problem on my garage door frame. I have used the short one with a curl in it on several trucks, and doesn't seem to adversely affect reception. Most autoparts places have or can get them, or on Ebay. http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j0...tenna-C031.jpg
Just cut it down. Spray some black paint on the end or respray the whole thing. I took a fine grinding wheel to mine and sharpened the end to a point. Keeps people from grabbing the end of it to make it fling back and forth.
I bought a Craven Speed stubby antenna for mine. Can't comment on reception loss as I have used the radio maybe 15 minutes in the 13 months I have had the truck. It's cheap, easy to install and looks much better.
You can just cut a few inches off yours, pull the ball off and reglue it to the new end.
I cut a few inches off the antenna tonight. However, I can't get the ball off. Are you sure it comes off? Does the ball serve any purpose or can I go without it?
I think it keeps the antenna from shaking around at high speeds as well as in icy conditions. Can always try it without and see what it does.
I wish I could put the ball back on for appearance purposes, but I was on the highway this morning and didn't notice any difference in the amount of shaking. I guess I will try one more time to get the ball off and if I can't get it to come off, just paint the antenna and go without the ball.

Ford does this for a reason, so the driver sees it before they run into something with their roof! My factory antenna has saved the roof of my F350 sssssooooo many times its not funny, everything from a drive through to parking garages.....
