My 66 CC 352/3spd runs great. I dont know how, the carb looks rough and leaks like crazy. It leaks so much Im concerned its a fire hazard.
I have a couple choices.
I have another 2100 that I just rebuilt. I do not know how to adjust it, but Im sure I can figure it out.
I also have a 4v manifold off my 390 parts truck. I need to pull the manifold anyway to regasket the engine. I have an HEI distributer I want to install so I could do it all at once and put a 4v carb on as well.
So what 4v carb is best for a bone stock 352? Im toying with putting a roller 351 and an aod in next year or the year after next, so it would be nice if I could use the carb on both engines. The engine swap is a tough call, the 352 runs too good to replace for no reason other than its big and heavy.
Went to exhange the old 4v 1850 (4160) Holley and sales person suggested keeping and rebuild, apparantly don't make them like they use to. Have not worked on other carbs and found Holley bout as basic as it gets.
Expect other members will be chiming in on their experience with some of the other brands, seems the Edlebrook got some decent reviews.
If understand correctly, intend swapping engine or carburator in the next couple years but have a rebuilt carb.; if so, at this point I would just swap the carbs; meantime, decide if you want to add any other upgrades. Anyhow, had an urge to chime in and add my $.02.
Just rebuild it. Its pretty cheap to do and it really is as good as a new carb if you do it right. If you screw it up just take it to a local shop and Im sure they can fix it. The important thing is to clean it really well and replace everything the kit comes with. It takes the better part of a day start to finish.
