The T5 will bolt up to the early 302 just the same as the later ones. No special mods necessary. Just be sure to use the correct flywheel for your crank balance. After 1981, they're different. Do not use a 5.0 flywheel on your engine.
Thank you for the reply, thats great news, I havent bought them yet but would like to get them in the next week, the trans only has 300km on it, it was from wrecked 08 Mustang, I missed out on the motor/computers.

Thank you again for the quick responce.

Hold on a second. If the trans is from a 2008 Mustang, it's not a T5 nor is it from behind a 302/5.0, but the 4.6, which is NOT interchangeable with the 302. The only Mustangs with the T5 that work are pre-1994.
I'm thinking its not a T-5 and the guy does not know that, as I know it came off of a 08 Mustang and they were 4.6 as you know!
I think I will pas on that one, but there is another guy that has reconditioned/rebuilt T-5's at around the same price.
I would like to go with one of those as they are a 5 speed modern trans!, all this greif so I can stay Ford!! now I know why most builders go to the dark side and instal SBC, not me always swimming up streem!
The bellhousing bolt pattern is the same, only the early pre-65 (or real close to that) had what are called the 5 bolt bellhousing. Your 68 is same as the 5.0's have. Just get the flywheel with correct external balance to match your engine. The trans should bolt right up, just use the 5.0 bellhousing if you can get the whole assy.
You will probably have to do some mods for clutch linkage. T-5 use a cable in stock 5.0 form.
don't forget to change/install the correct bearing in the rear of the crank for the input shaft.
Thank you Wayne, I'm not familiar with car motors. is this bearing involve taking the engine apart? and is it due to trying to use the T-5 Transmission? or rather a problematic issue with a 302.

Could I go with a hydrolic set up? either way I think everything I'm doing seems a big project for me!
Thanks, so far you guy's have been great as I am by no means a mechanic! The fabrication doesent scare me yet, and I'm onlt concerned about the drive train at this point only for mock up of the chassis.
