I finally got my hands on a 11 tail gate. Dropped it off to the body shop for paint today. So the question is, without sifting through a ton of posts what are the part numbers I need to install this on my truck. I know there is a latch that I need to make it work but nor sure of a part number.
Take your hinges off the old tailgate and swap them, your good to go. Also put a pipe clamp on the bottom passenger side hinge and that will prevent the scum from just lifting the door off.
Anyone have a part number real quick, and I guess while Im at it what would I need to put an 08-up rear bumper on, Do I just need the bumper and pad or all the supports as well.
I hate body work, mechanical no problems but body work I hate.
No idea on part number for the hinge pivot, but you are right, only the drivers' side needs replaced.
I recommend the hose clamp as well for the passenger side. Of course it is not 100% foolproof, but these tailgates can be removed in 30 seconds. Anything you can do to slow them down is worth it.
You could get the clamp from McGard (amazon sells them) which has a special head on it so a regular screwdriver or nutdriver won't work.
No...you do not need a 2008+ bumper. Yes, you can swap one in but not necessary.
I know I dont need 1 but may as well do it as mine is a little rusty, just wondering if I need to replace all the supports or just unbolt the chrom bumper itself and swap in an 08-up or do I need all the supports behind the bumper to make it work.
