Of course! Even if it cost me the same to build it myself I would still do it. Not only is it good experience, but whenever I have the opportunity to do something myself instead of paying someone else, I always do it.

You need to use HIGH quality steel tubing preferably DOM. The original poster said 1-1/4 or 1-1/2 pipe, I hope he did not mean water pipe as any steering or suspension linkage made out of water pipe or seamed tubing is dangerous. By the time you add the price of the tubing to the heim joints it is getting close to the price of the kit. There is also the liability factor, if the truck is involved in an accident and has homemade parts made out of the incorrect materials, the lawsuits are flying.

Of course I won't use water pipe. I know a welder that has tons of pipe scraps of all shapes and sizes and I'll probably be able to get a proper piece for next to nothing.
