I had a thread here several months ago called "Really odd problem". I'm unable to locate it now. In that thread I described I had a 96' 7.3 that at times would cut-out or quit unless I put KleenDiesel fuel treatment in it. I did several things to it at the time with the help of all of you. It's been several months now and the issue is still there. It acts as if it's running out of fuel.
It hit me the other day that just maybe it's sucking air in the lines and the fuel treatment is causing something to swell and seal off. Is this possible? What kind of seals are on the braided lines and can just the seals be replaced? Any ideas on this? Thanks for your help.
Yep, that is the one. Don't know why I couldn't locate it. Thanks for the help.
So you can see what was done and explored at the time, but I've still been unable to fix this problem. A seal letting it suck air instead of fuel does make sense IF the treatment would somehow be causing it to seal.
I would love to go the electronic route, but wouldn't it be rather expensive?
I appreceiate everyone's input on this. I think it is sucking air. A few days ago I crawled under to survey the situation and while I was there I kinda twisted on 3 fuel line connections. 2 at the fuel tank tranfer valve and 1 of the braided line connections. So far it's ran MUCH longer than it has been doing without acting up. It was getting pretty bad in the past month.
So, my question is can just these seals be replaced or will the braided line need to be replaced and I'm not certian about those fittings on the valve. Thanks!
