I really should know the answer to this but I don't. Are the navigation maps stored on the 10GB hard drive and do we have to buy updates that we manually upload? Or are the updates from Sirius?
I ask because last night, I was on the phone with Sirius negotiating my annual rate and they quoted three components to my bill: 1) satellite radio 2) navigation and 3) travel link.
I have also not seen anything from Ford or any of the nav map providers such as navtek about purchasing updated maps. This leads me to believe that the updates do come from Sirius but I just want to be sure. Does anyone know?
It included those three components listed above. I guess I'm not sure what the Navigation piece is. The lady on the phone said it was the map updates. I'm going to have to look in to this now.

If you don't mind confirming exactly what you are getting for that price (whenever, no rush), I'd appreciate it.
The process for Nav updates are out lined in the last pages of your OM, I believe that you have to order a CD from NAVTEQ. Not sure what Sirius updates are.
Hi there, don't you think for the price of these trucks that they should give you Lifetime updates for this service.I am going to be purchasing a Super Duty in the near future and this could be a throw item, what do you guys think.
John
ALL map updates are from NAVTEQ whether they come from them directly or through FoMoCo. Nothing to do with Sirrius. About $200 a pop. It is it's own DVD and for the most part are only worth updating every few years.
As far as them giving them away free because you paid so much for your truck... That is why they charge so much for the updates...you obviously have $$$.
Yes all updates are through Navteq and includes multiple DVDs with not only map updates but also system software updates. Current is 5.1 I believe. It will cost around $200 and I agree it is not worth doing but every two or so years. I think Sirius Nav is turn-by-turn through your speakers if you dont have navigation system but just a radio. I am not positive about that.
They quoted me $95 for a year of radio and traffic for the wife's 2011 audi and never got the traffic.....
so when they called to ask about the 2012 trucks sirius I said no thanks .....
My garmin lifetime maps and traffic works just fine
(and navteq has maps updated at least quarterly, so if your mfg is saying go to them, they are blowing up your skirt the mfg has to authorize/release the maps for their vehicles!)
I was thinking about the map updates too, but there is so much road construction going on around here that I worry that they'll be obsolete before they ship! Also, I don't recall putting Sirius on auto-renew, but I just got a notice that they had billed my CC for another year's subscription - at the whopping tune of $247.14. Note from Sirius on the CC says "in-person transaction" Uh, no, it wasn't.
But I like my Classic Vinyl station - and the weather maps.......
As others have stated the only way to update the navigation is to purchase the updates from NavTeq. They are $199. I update mine every two years.
The Sirius Travel Link is the added content in the radio such as the weather maps, sports, etc. Sirius Traffic works with the navigation system to display construction and traffic accidents along a programmed route.
