2001 f150 fuel issues.
My truck is finally almost ready for the road. I want to thank FTE friends for all the help. one issue left i can hear fuel pump turn on for a few seconds but no fuel. every once in a while it gets a little rail press and starts for a few seconds. lxman and a few others told me was having pump issues. going to remove bed and pump. question is when i get pump out if the filter sock is plugged up can i replace just sock or should i replace pump? the truck has set for a year with a half tank of fuel.would really like to remove old fuel. i replaced fuel filter and there was a bunch o crap dirt etc in it. and dont want to ruin new filter any ideas on how to get old fuel out without removing tank? I appreciate any help.

Get a new Motorcraft fuel pump, old fuel and water will damage the internals

You are doing all this work and not willing to properly clean the fuel tank?
Siphon out the old fuel.
Remove the tank so you can clean it out completely, with the bed removed
Cleaning the tank is an hour job at the most.
