Alright guys and gals, im not looking for anything extreme just 1-3inches, i want to lift the front end of my 77 f100 2wd, my question is, i have a 78f150 donor truck in my field, would the stock springs on it give my 77 f100 any extra clearance if i swapped the springs out, or should i just go ahead and buy the autofab 3inch kit??
I would just use stock front 4x4 springs or coil spacers. (the cup kind that go in between the spring and mount) or you could move the coil buckets down and inch or two which would only cost you time to re-drill the frame.
I have a 79 f100 2wd I lifted it by putting spacers under the spring seat. I took the spring out and removed the seat and the nut that holds the radius arm bolt. I then put a spacer on the bolt, about 1"-1.5". I then put it all back together and it gave me approximately 3" lift at the wheel. You then need to take the truck to an alignment shop that can still bend the I-beams as the camber will be too positive. It can be driven with the tires leaning out, but it will cause irregular tire wear in the long run. I haven't fixed my camber cause i am gonna fab up some brackets to drop the pivot point of the I-beam. Hope this helps.
They camber is set -1* from the factory.(leaned in) the lift I did set the camber about +1*,(leaning out). It's not horrible. I just have to make sure I rotate my tires not often.
