I have a rebuilt IP that was ran on a truck for a few thousand miles on it (much miuch less than the 450 kms mines got). its been sitting for id say at least a year. pump is attatched to timing gear, injector lines are all capped off. It was rebuilt by international fuel systems.
Can i give it a visual inspection intenrnally see if its all good? or you think its good as it it? should i send it out for a once over (dont want to spend 50 bucsk on shipping and a quick looksie....money is tiiight).
really want to get this nbew pump on there with some new injectors!
If it was basically sealed up as you say, should be OK. Diesel does not evaporate out like gas would, so as long as it turns over easy it should be OK. You could run some diesel kleen or similar through it and just turn over by hand to make sure it is cleaned out if by chance anything is dried out a bit.
I got one of the cheap U-haul closeout IP's and put it on my truck. I kept my old still working good IP, wrapped in the plastic bag and back in the same box U-haul sent in. I figure it is good for a spare if ever needed. For sure a good core for an exchange if need that in the future.
Thanks, thats a reassuring reply.
it does turn over very easy.
i always like to have a spare of everything! keep it in the toolbox on the truck just in case...
Off topic but related to keeping a spare;
