How do brass fittings work for fuel lines?
I need to splice in some new fuel lines to replace the old ones and all the local parts store has is brass fittings intended for pneumatics. I remember my old 75 pickup had a brass fitting at the carburetor, but I wasn't sure how well a brass fitting would work for a permanent butt joint/splice.
Just wondering if it is or is not a good idea to use it.

I've seen brass barbs used to repair/spline the plastic lines. Take some warm water and stick the hose in it, then quickly insert the brass fitting. The heat will soften the plastic hose allowing it to stretch enough to get the barb installed. Once it cools off, it grips it tight and you won't get it back off.
