Splicing Into hard Plastic Fuel lines

My original thread keeps getting by brass injector caps ( want a set for myself in the future LOL) What is the easiest and most effective way to splice into the hard plastic fuel lines used in these trucks???

I am swapping from the mechanical pump to an electric and I want to mount it near the fuel tank selector valve and to do so I will need to cut and somehow splice into the plastic lines.

You will have to use hose barb fittings, and you will have to heat up the ends of the plastic lines in order to get the fittings into them (carefully use a heat gun, or better if you can place in boiling water as it will heat evenly and not burn).

would a good hair dryer get them warm enough to work with??? My mom has 1 that gets hot enough that you cannot keep your hand in front of it more than a few seconds before it burns you....

You can also just clamp rubber hose on them. They won't collapse.

I needed to splice a section of them when swapping my front tank out. I got one of the splice kits from the store and tried to follow the directions. It states to soak them in hot water until soft, then jam in the brass fitting. No matter how long they soaked, or how hot the water was, I couldn't get it soft enough to stuff the whole fitting in place. Heat gun worked fine. Hair dryer should be just fine, just make sure you evenly heat all around the tube. They might have fitting at your local auto store just for this application. The nylon (plastic) lines only need small bumps to hold, while rubber line calls for actual barbs a hose clamp to secure it. Although since this is a low pressure case, you could most likely get by with the small bumps on a plastic line kit, and maybe go with 2 hose clamps on the rubber side in case you're worried.
