1) Make sure the ALT light goes OFF if you unplug the regulator. The regulator should be the ALT light's only path to ground.
2) Make sure you have a solid connection between the STA or S post of the alternator and the S terminal of the regulator. The regulator needs this signal to shut off the ALT light.
I don't understand. The first instruction was to make sure the ALT light goes from ON to OFF if you unplug the regulator. You are saying the light is "still on;" I'm not sure to what that applies. What were your exact results of the first experiement?
