NO cats??

Hey guys,
K, my dad is thinking that is Cats on his exhaust is plugged, so he wants to get rid of them. Ya ya ya i know, check engine light and whatever, it don't matter taht thing has been on for a year now so whoop dee do! But its a 97 F-150, and its got what appears to be four of them !! He tryed to drill a hole in each one and see if he could get rid of most of the "stuff" in there, and it did, but now it sounds quite.......unique. So now we got to get the cats outta there and stick a peice of pipe in there to replace the cats. Now i was planning on keeping the stock muffler, and have just one question. How loud is this going to be??? Those cats are pretty flow resticting so im thinking it should sound pretty healthy with them gone. has anyone ever done this and if so, can you give me some details???
Thanks

NO cats??

Even if your CEL is on now it'll be throwing a diffrent code when you get rid of the cats. You could get rid of all 4 and put in 2 highflows or you could get 02 simulators that'll fool your computer into thinking you have functioning cats. It should be quite loud without cats.
