Just say 'No FINO's' (Ford In Name Only).
This is my thing. I really don't care what others do. It boils down to me wanting to get cheap as GM or MOPAR parts that won't break as soon as they get installed. The previous sentence was a cheap shot.

Donaldson makes the majority of CAT branded filters. Years ago Caterpillar dealers had a filter cut-away comparison on the counters... comparing CAT to Baldwin to Wix.
Something to think about.
I have toured the Baldwin facility and attended several filter seminars, usually attended by Baldwin among others. I am a huge fan of Baldwin, but even some of their filters have drawbacks. I agree the B2 is a quality filter.

Baldwin/Hastings makes several filters that are rebranded for other companies like CAT and Deere.

I know people who swear by Fram. I will not use one of those crappy things. I have cut one open before and seen an element with only four folds of paper. Now the filters branded for Mobil are interesting because they don't just have the usual pleats. To get just a bit more in there the pleats are folded into pattern that resembles a W. I believe Bosch filters are the same way.

When I was working at the local Kenworth dealer one of our parts guys was at a Baldwin production facility for a class and noticed the yellow filters. When he asked about it they said "you didn't see that."

With the way the cheap Fram filters are made (the more expensive Fram filters actually have metal caps) there aren't more issues and the class action lawsuits that come with it.
Depending on the Bosch filter it is made either by Purolator or Champion Labs.
Champion Labs makes Mobil filters.

The following research paper on oil filters was last updated in '08 but i don't believe much, if anything at all, has changed since then, at least in regards to the manufacturers/brands listed in the article.
