Hello all- Yes newbie to the forum last month. Before I am cursed by the brilliant minds on this forum please know that I searched the forums for my particular problem and still have not found an answer, so here goes.
2002 F250 7.3 diesel 4x4
I bought the truck a month ago and am in the process of fixing a few things.
My cruise control will not turn on at all. When I press the "cruise on" button the CC light will not even illuminate. I have read all about the recal on the brake swith on the master cylinder, after checking that switch with a meter I found it is infact working properly. I had a few other issues (no horn, air bag light on) so I changed the clock spring and now the horn works and the air bag light is no longer on but still no CC. I've checked for power supply underneath the horn on the steering wheel to the CC and I am getting 12v. The ground also checked out good as well as the CC on/off switches. I've also checked every fuse in the panel under the steering console as well as in the engine compartment and all are good. I've tried the key on ignition off (KOIO) test for the speed sensor but like I said the CC light will not illuminate making it impossible to do the test. Normally I don't have issues locating an electrical "gremlin" but this one has me stumped. Any advise would be greatly appreciated
that light won't come on until your going 25mph.. then push the button.. how does all the rest of your lamps work? my back up alarm stays on, have to push it 3 to 4 times too get it to go out, my OD light comes on even when I haven't pushed the button on the shifter, wiggle the shifter, it goes out, but comes right back.. sometimes my radio doesn't work and my windows won't work, turn the key off and start over, and they work? someone told me about a connection box up under the dash near the windshield drivers side that gets the contacts corroded and causes problems, also they said a wire in the shifter gets frayed and makes the OD light come on and off? FORD says they have no problems with the electrical system on these trucks.. BS, I've heard too many people complain over the same electrical problems.. oh, that DIESEL CLEAN in the Grey and/or Black plastic container will cost you a few thousand dollars if you use it regularly, it wipes out your injectors.. mine cost me $3000 to replace all of them.. use automatic trans fluid in your diesel like the old days, that lubricates the injectors and people have been doing that for years with no problems.. good luck..
