tranny ??S again
i have a '90 EB was driving to class when my tranny slipped out of gear and into neutral. i let my foot off the gas and it goes right back into gear. it started doing it about 2 weeks ago but doesnt seem to have any specific pattern on when it happens, and it doesnt matter whether its in OD or not. im hopin its somethin simple like the MLPS. oh, the fluid it normal and theres no grinding or any strange noises either. anyone got any ideas??

Is that an E40D? Because I know that sometimes a bad electronic solenoid can make the trans "slip" There is probably at least 3 solenoids that could cause it, one is the torque converter lock up solenoid, and there are a couple other ones in there. I'll bet someone from this forum will know more than I, I just wanted to make sure you check out the electronic solenoids before you take the whole transmission out. I know several people that get the tyranny rebuild and a few miles down the road it starts doing the same thing due to a bad solenoid, my friends 94 T-bird did the same thing so I replaced all three solenoids and it's fixed, the shops wanted to charge 2K+ to put a new tyranny in. Good luck I know how fustration a slip in the old slush box can be.

The 90 E4OD has a rep for bad MPLS. You can get an updated one from Ford. Also check or replace the TPS. I sort of had the same thing and it was the TPS. Disconnect it and see if it shifts better. It will trip the computer but may help. Don't drive it to long this way.
