Question Changing Transfer Cases

I have an 88 Bronco with a blown bw 1356 electric shift transfer case. I want a manual shift model. Can I make the swap? The wiring for the 4x4 annunciator lights is there as well as the hole for the shifter. How bad can it be and what should I be careful of?

Changing Transfer Cases

It should be easy. Several people have done it, but have you read this?

Changing Transfer Cases

Thanks for the info, but already checked out the motor. Split the X-fer Case and it looked like a grenade went off in there. Chain and shift levers broken as well as the worm gear for the shift motor stripped. Totally blown. Down to the replacement options now. I'm saving that link though..... Thanks.

Changing Transfer Cases

The swap from electric to manual is fairly easy. You need the shifter bracket that bolts to the transmission from the manual t-case, and you usually can pick up a used, manual-shift B-W13-56 for $200-$300.
