Well, its been 6 years and noticed starter turning slower if truck sat over the weekend. It always starter within 2-3 seconds but has been so long I forgot how a good new battery(s) system performs. Well, let me tell you, it scared the crap out of me how fast the engine can actually turn over. I'm glad I did it with winter coming as now have no worries, just had to convince the wife. Lesson I learned is over time we all are accustom to the engine start cycle but sometimes forget how it use to be, and what it should be like.
What did you end up getting Jim? This will be my 3rd winter on Red Tops. So far so good.
Went with what was in there. Extreme Power series 65XT which are 850 CCA, 1000 CCA @ 32*. Probably not the top end but they have never failed me over the years, hot or cold climate.

I installed a powermaster high torque starter at the same time I installed XS power batteries. I also got the crap scared out of me!! I thought the flywheel was going to fly out.
I might need to change my Optimas out soon. They have been in there for about 4 years now. The engine seems to spin fast enough, but something tells me it's not as fast as it used to be.. I remember when I installed these batteries and the SD starter I was really surprised how fast it spun.
