Hey guys as you can see by my posts I'm new. I had a question and was wondering if you guys can help me out. I'm currently looking to by a truck and came across a 2012 F250 6.7 power stroke. I had asked a few buddy's of mine and they told me that they break down to easy that the 6.7 is no good. I know if something was to breakdown parts would be expensive. So my question is to all of you that use it for personal use is it a reliable truck? Does it breakdown easy is the 6.7 a good long lasting motor. Thanks Eric.
My truck is a 2011 F250 (job 1 build), a few small issues that were addressed by TSB's but nothing with the motor. Had a leaky DEF line but truck kept running and that was fixed under warranty and one other issue with fuel into my DEF tank but that was my fault.
I drive the truck like I stole it and she keeps on running.
Seems like the 2012 have less issues now that theses 6.7 engines have been out for awhile.
Mine runs great at 38,000.
As with other 2011 job 1 build owners, I've had TSB's addresses a few issues and my front diff began to leak awhile back [fixed] but the engine components have been bullet proof so far.
The only reason I would trade this truck would be to get a crew cab.
Thanks guys so far the truck is good just a few minor bugs but nothing major. Just curios on what job 1 build means??
Just about every car on the market goes through version control if you will, kinda like software. About halfway through a model year the maker takes into account all types of different issues and factors regarding the vehicle and does some "updates". The initial release (version 1.0 if you will) is Job 1. The subsequent updated vehicle (version 2.0) is called Job 2. All changes from 2011 Job 2 trucks are included in 2012 Job 1 trucks and the cycle continues until perfection is achieved.
