I'm confused. So what happens when you buy aftermarket wheels? No more locking hubs right?

No, not at all. More like no easily adjusting your hubs. You have to remove the center cap to do so. So I leave mine in auto because of this...

So you have XD wheels and your hub "position" is permanently that of "auto" correct?

I would not say permanently, but it is currently set to auto and I don't plan on changing it anytime soon. If I wanted to change it, I'd have to remove my center cap...which equate to pulling the front wheels. Not very convenient. Every time I rotate the wheels, I engage and disengage the hubs to make sure all is well.

I personally would never cover the hubs. IMO the vac line that connects to the hubs has some fairly chinsey plastic connectors in it, a sage brush or something could easily break it off. or even running in some tall grass I think could do it. it aint that heavy duty. and like I said if the weather is bad and I am on dirt roads shifting in and our of 4wd quite a bit I am just going to go manual lock.
