Top Removal Directions

I remember a while back seeing very thorough directions on how to remove the hardtop of a 1982-1996 Bronco in the tech section of www. mybigbronco.com. However, it seems as though that article has since disappeared. I basically know how to remove the top, but would feel much more confident if I had more explicit directions than just removing interior trim, unscrewing the bolts, and placing the top on 2x4's to preserve the weatherstripping. Does anyone have a copy of this article or any other more detailed directions. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well, thats pretty much all there is to taking the top off an 80-96.
but I can tell you exactly what I do for my 82.
I stated by pulling the philips head screws off the interior trim panels and pulling them out. I then use a screww gun with a 5/16" socket w/ 1/4" drive and 1/4" universal to make it easier on myself. After all screws are out, I kneel down under the back side of the top right infront of the tailgate and push up with my back to pop the seals loose, and drag it back a few inches to make sure it's clear of the cab.
Then me and a buddy pick it up by each side and lift it off and set it on four spools that I have collected over some time, they work just as good as 2x4s.
Hope this helps.

There's just not that much to it. The big differences in what people will tell you are a) how to move it between the truck & the ground, and b) how to store it. I set a sturdy box behind the t/g and step off with it on my shoulders, but I'm 6'2" & 225lb. I store it leaned against a wall with the bottom on wood blocks, and I've never had a problem.

Is this the article you're looking for?
