Ok when my truck warms up and it is below 1500 or 1400 rpm (no matter what gear or speed i am going) the gauge drops to nothing and the same on my mechanical one. but as soon as 1500 hits the gauge is right back up to the n on normal....to me i think is is the oil pickup tube or pump goin bad... but what do i know...lol....thanks for any help...
sounds like its time for a new oil pump.
it sounds to me like the bypass spring is worn or broken.
oil pumps are relatively cheap, so why not replace the whole pump?
make sure to clean the pickup screen
How many miles on the engine? What psi do you have when the engine is cold at idle? What about when warm at idle?

When it goes to zero do you hear the engine parts? With no oil pressure the lifters should be clattering very noticably. If not, and the point of attachment for the mechanical gauge and the dash electrical one is in the same place, it may be being bypassed. The bypass may be for several reasons, including a clogged oil filter. How long has it been since you changed your oil and filter?
The oil pressure when cold is right around 30psi and cold right now is 70 to 80 F...when warmed up and goin down the road it usally is 10-20lbs.. The oil and filter werebrand new. Now that i put a few miles on it i changed to 20w50 and a fram tough gurad filter and it now drops off at about 900rpm when warm. i have a HVHP oil pump on the way...

This tells me that you made the right choice in getting a new pump. Open that baby up and see whats goin on in there. If the cold pressure is normal (40-60) psi, and drops to 10-15 when warm, that means the pump is good but the engine is worn, and the bottom end probably needs to be rebuild. But, that part looks good, so that's good news.
