Ok....I feel confident in posting now. My check engine light has not come on again!! It's been about 1,000 miles now. I, at the suggestion of this firum, took my MAF sensor out to inspect it, found the sensor wires to have the oil coating, which was introduced from my K and N filter (I run the whole K and N intake system). I removed the K and N air filter, then removed the housing that the MAF sits in....took some electrical contact cleaner and gave a few high pressure squirts to the MAF wires (of course I disconnected the neg battery cable first). Wires were cleaned well, reinstalled the housing, air filter and reconnected the batt cable. Check engine light has not come on since. Truck runs great once again!!!! (98 F-150, V8 4.6 liter).
I had some suggestions to change the fuel filter (that was a fairly quick job to my surprise, just need the special tool, which I got from Napa for $15.00), I ended up doing that a week ago...just wanted to pin the problem down to the MAF, which it seems to be.
Thanks for all the great advise...this forum is awsome!!!
