what does this mean?

i noticed something with my 79 f350 today

After driving around in the fields a bit only goin through 1st or second since it has no brakes the clutch pedal was just below the brake pedal when warmed up. If i pull on pedal it pops up to the stopper under the dash. Is this a sign of the clutch goin out? If it makes a difference this truck hasen't been used in 4 years and i just got it running.

I am experiencing the same problem, only mine does it all the time; the clutch pedal does not return all the way up to the stopper under the dash. Any thoughts?

Or the pedal bushings are worn allowing the pedal to bind.

Clutch pedal coil return spring located above clutch pedal, attaches to bracket the brake/clutch pedals suspend from.

Over time it loses the ability to return the pedal all the way, so you have to pull the pedal up by hand (or foot).

So, how difficult is this to replace? Any thoughts or tips before I jump in to replace it?

I've never replaced it, but I've seen it replaced several times in dealership shops, it's not fun. 1977/79: There are two different types, what size is the engine?

IMO, replace with a new spring, user may not be any better than what you have now, could be worse.

It's a 1979 F100 300 I-6 with a 3 speed on the column. Would you happen to know the procedure in which to replace it? I was hoping my dad and I could do it ourselves. Seeing as though not many repair shops in my area work on trucks of this age, I'm very limited on options to fix it.

Try adjusting the threaded rod on the equalizer bar. I've been where you are, and after going through 3 springs the adjustment rod finally made the difference
