I just tried to put my bargain new front bumper on my 66 f 100 . bumper seems short and the holes are to wide ... 73 frames are wider but don't they look different ?? I own one 50 miles away but I can't remember sitting here . any ideas ....
Just guessing by looking at your user name, if you are trying to put a 73 2wd front bumper on a 66 4wd, it wont fit. I am not up on the 4wds like the 2s but I believe the 66 still uses the older chassis.
limegoldf100, If I am reading your post correctly, the chassis was changed in 65, the 64 is not in the line up, should be 65-79.
2WD/4WD makes no difference, the bumpers are the same.
C4TZ-17757-C Painted & C4TZ-17757-D Chrome .. Front Bumpers ~ Two mounting bolts per side / 1961/63 bumpers are different, have three mounting bolts per side in a triangular pattern.
Applications: 1964/77 F100/350, 1978 F100/350 before serial number AG0,001, but...
In 1967, Ford changed the ends of the bumpers to match the 1967's stone shield.
So, in reality, the 1964/66 bumpers are different than 1967/78 bumpers.
The confusion lies with the fact that the IDIOTS at FoMoCo used the same 1964 (C4TZ) part numbers thru 1978.
John: The bumpers will fit all 1964/79 F100/350's, but the repro's are based off the original 1967/78 bumpers, so the bumper ends won't "look right" on 1964/66's.

This has nothing to do with front bumpers.
1973: FoMoCo widened the distance between the inner rear frame rails behind the cab to 37 1/2" from the 33 1/2" used prior to 1973 on all F100/350's, except:
1973/77 F250 4WD (High Boys), 1973/79 F350's on the 140" wheelbase. Both retained the 33 1/2" frame rails.
The front frame rails from the rear of the cab forward are the same width 1965/79.
Skyline Drive-Blue Ridge Parkway, IMO the most scenic drive in the USA. I've driven Front Royal R/T to Natural Bridge, Cherokee R/T to Boone.
Due to detours and the fact I live in CA, haven't yet driven Boone R/T to Natural Bridge.
Should have 2 bolt holes per side. It might be possible that the made in China bumper has the mounting holes in the wrong location.
I installed a genuine Ford C4TZ-17757-D chrome front bumper on my 1965 F100 in 1982, bolted right on. Back then, the bumper was still available from Ford.
