Nobody has any ideas? I have looked on Fordparts.com and Rockauto but can't find the selector assembly. Going to tear it down today and see if maybe I can get it moving and greased up enough to get me through the winter.
Wow, maybe I am just used to the 1987 - 1996 F150 & Larger F-Series Trucks forum from when I owned my '97 F250 but I can't believe not even one suggestion, "good luck" or anything. Oh well.
Anyway, I took the selector lever boots off so I could access mechanism from above and found that this selector works quite different than the one I had to replace in my '97 F250. It appears that the lever is rusty and that is the only thing hindering operation. I tried WD-40 but that didn't do a thing. Over the last week or so I have been giving it a good dose of Kroil every day and finally today it is operating. I may still take the whole assembly out to try to clean it up and maybe still try to get a new part but for now it is working.
