97 4x4 problem

97 4x4 problem

bought a 97 f150 4x4 from an older fella who never used the 4x4 option.the one time it was put into 2 high it got stuck and still is.truck runs fine but i need to get it out of 4x4.removed the boot a cover but that doesnt give any access to maybe lube it,so im kinda stuck.truck was only driven for 2 miles with it stuck.any tips?.thanks

first 4x4 ive ever had.how do i tell.

Then its not SOTF (Shift on the Fly). Sounds like your transfercase shifter linkage is in a bind. Have you tried shifting it with the truck in forward, reverse, coasting, neutral, etc? Sometimes you have to move the driveline around for the gears to un-mesh.
