Ok I work at a small company that makes turbo systems for small airplanes. And when we install our system we romove the factory exhaust. Well the mufflers bolt right up to most headers. I have a F350 CCLB I don't have headers and I want a x pipe and two of the airplane mufflers no tailpipes. it sounds like a big block with big open exhaust. Sounds good for a 351.
What are these airplane mufflers like? Are they straight through type? Got any pictures, one of the whole muffler and maybe one down the tube? If they are free flowing then they are a great deal for free.
Those are prtty short, like the Dynomax Race Bullet which can be had in 4" diameter and 7.5 inches long.
Here is a flame cone from an aircraft site:
Looks like it is not really straight through but the cone blocks the flow, so the flow goes throught the holes. I'd think that would quiet it down a good bit, but will it have enough flow? Works for aircraft, so guess it woudl work for your truck. If you didn't lose any power, you are fine, though a freer flowing muffler may help increase power some.
