Having problems with my power lock on driver's side. You can hit the button and the passenger side will work but the drivers won't. If any of you have advice or had this problem help will be appreciated.
I have the same problem with my Bronco's driver's side power lock.It should be an easy fix.I've been busy with other things, lately, to fix it.Like you said, you hit the button, and the passenger side lock works fine, but the driver's side lock you have to lock by hand.I'll have to get around to fixing it soon.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-Sep-02 AT 09:59 AM (EST)]The drivers side lock and the passenger side lock are wired in parrallel so you do not have to check the switches. If one side works it is not the switches. I would suspect the lock motor itself. Use a voltmeter and check for voltage at the motor while operating the switches. Do not check from the wires on the motor to ground, check between the two wire on the motor.
Power lock actuators are an easy fix, just look inside your door at the outside edge below where the lock plunger is that sticks through your door panel, it will be barrel shaped and be hooked to the lock mechanism via a rod and clip, plus it will be clipped into the bracket, its really very easy to change out, its just where to get a replacement as Ford dealers once were the only place to get them, but I've seen aftermarket places that have them cheaper.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 03-Sep-02 AT 08:30 AM (EST)]I had the exact same problem on my '93 250 and it indeed was the switch. I pulled it out put in a new one and problem fixed.
I've got a similar problem....driver side doesn't work at all but the passenger side will lock both doors but doesn't un-lock them at the press of the button. Could it still be the driver side motor?
