Anyone worked for Schlumberger?

Just thought I would wander into the discussion area and see if I could find anyone who has worked with or for Schlumberger.

I am about 15 weeks from graduate with my certificate in Diesel/Heavy Equipment and starting the hunt for jobs. Schlumberger came by the school to tell us about their company and interview anyone interested in working for them.

I am interested in being a maintenance technician and I really like that they have some flexible options as far as working around Alaska. They make a point not to mention starting pay but from what I have researched online, there is tons of overtime and hardly much time off when first starting out. This currently matches my lifestyle desires as school has depleted the bank accounts and I don't yet have a family that needs me at home every night.

Anyone have any light they can shed on the subject for me?

I happen to speak french and have a business degree in management which I was told would really help me out in the long run of the company, but I am extremely excited to be out in the field and hands on for 5-10 years.

Thanks in advance.

Being born and raised in south Louisiana, I have known a lot of people who have worked for Schlumberger. Everyone I have known has had nothing but good things to say about the company.

Thanks, from what I have found in my research a lot of people speak highly of them. The pay and benefits are good but you will work for it, which quite frankly I don't mind at all.

Sounds like you have a plan! Sounds like a good start! Like always- keep looking but keep working as well. Good luck

EDIT: also remember, if you are not having fun, then you are in the wrong place or you are doing something wrong. You won't be single forever so don't plan your future being alone. Enjoy the next 60 years!

Thanks, I figured at either company I will probably start of a bitch. Under that assumption, why be the bitch at a 9-6 when I could work remotely and be paid much more for the same position. And as you mentioned, when the time does come to be home more often, I can either switch to another place of employment and or move into a home every night position.
