Got the injectors in and between shifts I slowly put the truck back together. Just heard her run for the first time since the change.
I idled her for about 20 minutes but know there is still some air in the system. Takes a little more cranking to get started than normal.
BUT, even with the air in the system, the miss that was always there is gone and idles better already. I will take her out for a drive this afternoon and see how she clears up.
Open to any suggestions or opinions if there are any
With the old injectors, the guy I bought them off of is going to take them and trade a friend for a set of stage 1's. Then, the friend is going to use them as a cores for a set of stage 2's. They are already commited, sorry fordpride.
Besides, I get some money back for them which makes the price for the good injectors under $250 for the whole set. Not too bad of a deal for all of us I dont think.
Just took her out for about a 20 mile drive. I expected it, but of course there was alot of of burning off and white smoke. It was getting better before the end of the drive.
The truck hasn't run this good since I bought her. There is no longer any miss a idle or up to speed. Now we'll see how she does during a cold start in the morning.
OK, took it to work, drove it almost 100 miles, it started just fine in the morning at work @ 45 degrees. The next day, it was 28 degrees and it started just fine. Now, let the truck sit a few days...
It is now 53 degrees, just went to try and start it and no start! I am having to plug it in again. 53 shouldn't be a problem, even without the glow plugs.
What else can it be? The IPR screen plugged? IPR faulty? Any ideas would be helpful.
Again, here is what I have done:
Last year replaced glow plugs and relay. System is working as it should.
Replaced the injectors this year, they needed it. Also ohmed the plugs again and all read 0.6 to 0.8 ohms. Well within range and verified they are getting voltage.
Just had the batteries tested at oreillys auto parts. Both tested good.
I stilll need to test fuel pressure. Does temperature affect these mechanical pumps?
Pressure at idle is supposed to be 50 - 70 right?
I will do that with the HPOP. Since I have bought the truck, I change that oil wth every oil change. I think the orifice is plugged and doing a seperate change has been seeming to help.
I did check my fuel pressure and when it was cold i was only 40 PSI and when it was operating temp it jumped between 45 & 55 PSI. That seems low. I heard 50 - 70 was better. How do I tell if it is my pump or regulator? Maybe just try a BB and see if it climbs?
I am also leaking around the fuel filter cap. That shouldn't affect pressure though due to being on the low pressure side right? Going to see if I can tighten it anymore and get it to stop
