94 f350 e40d. The trans shifts great first thing in the morning when it is cold. When it worms up it shifts hard into every gear. Its not as hard as in limp mode. I was reading about tps sensor adjustment. Could this be my problem? No engine light or trans light on. Thanks for the help
It definitely could be, they are a wear item, and that is typical of what happens when they are out of adjustment. You can check it with an ohm meter. Have you checked your fluid?
FordF250 is the resident expert on the e40d around here I am sure he will chime in.
I just read that post. A couple lined down, chris asked my same problem, and they replied that this is not his issue. So I guess I need to look somewhere else
I like my truck too. I woldnt trade it for a new one I know that. Thus a few little problems, but the truck is almost 20 years old so what do you expect. Hey question.... I need to change my signature but cant remember how

if my E40D started to shift hard but only at certain temps, such as when warmed up but not cold, then the first thing id test would be the TOT (trans oil temp) sensor in the solenoid pack to make sure that's working correctly.
below are a couple pics snapped from an atsg pdf to help you test it.
if you find it's failed, then you have good and bad news.
good news would be you know whats wrong, but the bad being the whole pack would need to be replaced.you can find rebuilt packs online and you can actually swap it out yourself fairly easy.
