So i was driving it the other night and i broke down. there was alot of trans fluid comin out so i had it towed to a dealership which told me that the front pump went out and the whole trans needed replaced. it still somewhat drives.( i only moved it about 10 ft) do you think i could just replace the pump or would the whole trans need to be replaced
Depends on what really happened. If there was a lot of fluid running out you may have just blown the front seal in the pump. If the pump grenaded it may have spewed metal bits through out the tranny.
If you have the time and skills the best start would be to pull the tranny and see what you can see.
Try to determine what caused the fluid to escape.
Check the torque converter for cracks. The front pump should not be too hard to remove and inspect, but inspect the seal before you pull it.
thank you this has been helpful but i think im just goin to try to sell it and get something different. i know how to do it i just dont have the tools time or space.
