Got a set of Stage 1's from Clay and my dissassembly has come to a halt on my first bank. I have my #3 injector stuck in the bore and can't understand why it wont pop out. Checked to make sure my pry tip wasnt under the inboard hold down screw cap but that wasnt the case. Switched up to a larger 18" pry and that did'nt work either. I'm concerned that a larger prybar wont get enough bite underneath and push it too much downward in the bore. The others popped right out as they I just o-ringed them last month. Thought I'd check in with you masters before I proceed and do unexpected damage. Running out of daylight and trying to beat the forecaster Noreaster due in tomorrow....yikes! Anyone ever hear of this before?
You should pry from the head to under neath the solenoid part for best results. I think your putting sideways forces on them.
but as well, those o-rings could have froze up to the cups down there, not seen that before though.
Incase they are hydrolocked in, pull the GP's out to let air into the cylinder. that might just be the problem right there.
I'm prying from the top head down into the topside of the injector under the heavy metal collar that you pry up on to clear the upper injector bolt. This is my 3rd time pulling these out and I havent done anything different. We're both talking about the same position right? O-rings frozen to the cups came to my mind but I have never read about that before. Am i missing something here?
Thanks for the help....Thar she blows! Unbelieveable! I'll have to finish it off tommorrow cause its too cold! BTW, talking to Clay after I bought the stage 1's, (delivered on 3rd day!!!) he told me that I'll need a chip. I interpreted the sales lingo to mean I needed one to take advantage of the extra HP gains. He said without it, the PCM would flow excess fuel and I will have stalling issues. Im leaning towards the DPTuner programmer/Infinity DX touch screen. any thoughts?
Well, If he's right, I'll be a stalling for another week until I get a tune. I got off to a late start this afternoon with the stage 1's so I'll cap it off tomorrow. Nothing I can do about that. Dont want to lose out on the core charge....My thoughts have been that lately I've had a bit of replacing to do and more so than in the last 10 years. The PM is good well deserved in a way since I decided this past spring to keep the beast. So, since a scanner is tough to get when I need it, I thought I'd get the pakage and then hook up some pillar guages. I no longer use it as a work truck and its just a daily but she's gotten my out of some tight scrapes so I guess I better be prepared. BTW, w/o the chip, did you see a increase in MPG on the stage 1's?
Just saw your post Clay and I guess I misunderstood you. Sorry. One thing I'm sure of is that you could farm out your business savvy to others who cant run a business and help them turn theirs around...You're number 1 with me.
