My latest upgrade

Well after the last round of upgrades to my 2012 Crew Cab I purchased a
aftermarket locking fuel door.

I didn't want it be a chrome or brushed chrome like every other truck it seems, so I had it painted to match the truck. I think it turned out pretty good.

Other than getting the nuts on the inside of the fuel door tightened it was pretty easy. Just tight working space. Well what do you guys think?

Wow! That looks fantastic. I might have to do the same to mine. I was considering the locking cap, but I think what you did to your door is a better option.

I got pretty lucky the dealer did it for free. They screwed up on the paint job when they were fixing the truck where I was hit by a 2lb rock. So they had some of the paint left over and said he would paint it for free.

I guess a bunch of the salesman came in when it was done and sitting on his desk. They asked if it was an option to do for a new customers ride and they were going crazy. For them it was $145 to paint it.

I think it turned out great and no one around me for now has the same one.

Looks great! The only downside I see is if you ever have a problem with your HPFP and Ford denies warranty you're going to have one hell of a uphill battle with your insurance company trying to get them to pay out for a vandalism claim. Locking fuel door sorta takes vandalism out, therefore your insurance company might not be willing to pay either.

Otherwise, it's awesome.

Already talked to them, I'm covered for bad fuel or water in it. My agent said it's covered and they would fix it and then go after the station. Made the decision allot easier. But I did keep the old one just in case.

Looks great! Make sure to check your key number. I installed one from AMI and it came with a CH751 lock and key which is so very common in the RV industry that its very easy to get. I replaced my lock with one that uses a round key.

fuel door

Looks great and the bolts seem to match your fender flares. And instead of a locking fuel cap you now can semi-protect your DEF from anyone putting junk in your tanks.

Where I lived before kids would put stuff like stones, dirt, water, and just about anything in people's fuel tanks. I got locking fuel caps on my other truck and at least I didn't fall victim to those antics. Just had to make sure when it got cold the locks didn't freeze on me.

Looks sharp!

Looks great! I would have had the bolts painted as well but they match your fender flares. Outstanding

Yeah the dealer has done a few fenders and said they should match exactly and he was right. They bolts match each other perfectly.

Sad thing is I've had the fuel door for about 5 weeks ready to put on but have been too busy.

Now it just needs a good cleaning.
