Spins, No Start, No Codes

I have a 95 7.3l The truck was running fine and then won't start and my Solus won't connect to the ecm. Does anyone have a pin-out for the ecm connector, or a location for the relay to control the power for the ecm?

Do you have a wait to start light when the key is on like normal? Does the tach move while cranking?

Welcome to fte.

Thanks Bill for the info. I will check the #22 fuse and fuel heater tomorrow, Yes the tach moves while cranking, but my scanner says that the key is not on it can not see the ecm.
I just did not know how the power flowed from the switch to the ecm.

Check the lighter fuse in the interior fuse box.

That particuler snap on scanner may not work on our trucks. I never herd some one say that one scans our trucks any way. You need one that reads obs powerstroke. Scan gauge, AE, Edge evolution, just to name a few.

Well, I checked the fuse #22 and it was good, in fact all the fuses are good, I checked the harness at the ecm connector for voltage on pins 21, 51, 55, 76, 77, and 103. I only have 12 volts on pin 55, the rest show ground.
Am I right to assume that the ecm power comes from a relay? If so which one? I guess what I'm looking for is schematic so I can trace the power flow to the ecm and find where it stops. I hope one of you guys has one that you can post. Thanks.

FYI, the Snap On Solus will read these trucks. I used to use one.

The PCM relay is in the under hood fuse box. Don't remember off the top of my head which one it is, but I THINK it's the one closest to the driver side fender. I'm probably wrong though. I haven't dealt with that relay in a few years.

Thanks, I thought it was the one closest to the fender but I was not sure. I bought a little tool that plugs into the relay slot and has a switch on top to manually turn the circuit on and off. I'll try it to see if the trouble in on the ecm side of the relay or the ign switch side,
I know my solus will work on this truck, I have used it on every diesel except the 6.7l. They have not updated the software for those yet
because they are all still in warranty.

Ok guys, I had some time this week, so looked at this truck again, here is what I have.
WTS works right
5 volt ref pwr on sensors with key on
My Solus says ecm is not on - no connection to ecm
I have power on ecm connector pin 55 the others show ground
Fuse 22 is good
The fuse for the power port in the cab is good and I have 12v in the port
I disconnected the high oil pressure regulator connector and tried to start, nothing
Tried another IDM, no start
I think there is a problem in the harness, does anyone have a schematic of this truck?

I would keep the batteries charged in the down time.
Do you have any smoke while you are cranking?
Do you have fuel in in the bowl?

Not a schematic but a diagram. Can't figure out how to make the FTE attachments work this time around so here is a thread where ... apparently, I did figure it out. Post #2.
