Question Radio Issues

I have a '96 F150 and am currently trying to install an Alpine head unit. The new head unit is getting power, but will not produce sound through the speakers. I am looking for a wiring diagram and have been unsuccessful to this point. Anybody know where I may be able to find it or have it???

It's a standard regular cab pick-up. Radio doesn't even have a cassette player.

Maybe your speakers are not hooked up? Speaker wires are pretty straightforward as there are 2 of each color. One usually is solid and the other has a tracer color on it. You can also verify which is which by looking at the wires coming off the speakers..

Regardless, no matter which speaker you hook up, you should get power out of it. So, even if you hook the front left where the right rear should go, it should still work.

were the speakers working before you installed the new head unit? If so then you might have them wired to the wrong wires coming out of the block attached to the back of the alpine. The wires coming out of the block are probably not the same color as the ford wires so just use the stereo wiring guide above and find the one that came with new head unit in order to make the right connections. If that still doesn't work you might have a bum head unit or you may have pressed a mute button by mistake or something.

Check the fade setting on the new stereo. It may be set all the way one way, and since most pickups only have the one set of speakers, this will essentially mute them.

Also, did you use a harness adapter, or are you hacking it in (hopefully the former)?
