Cool Trailer plug/wiring issues! :-(

Hi guys, I have an '03 F-250 that has (I believe) stock trailer light plug. I've never had a problem with it before, but this last time, nothing worked on the trailer except the running lights when my lights were on. No brake lights, no blinkers/hazards and no trailer brakes. Just the running lights. It's not the trailer, I hooked it up to another truck, they worked. I disconnected the electric cluster from the plug and checked each wire with a tester and the only thing that worked was the ground and the running lights.

Can it be a fuse/relay?!?! I don't know where to start. I called a guy that was recommended by a friend and he said he thinks he can fix it in an hour for $75 and it's probably a fus, but can't look at it til next week and I'm supposed to help a friend move this weekend! Of course he won't tell me which fuse, lol, so I thought I'd pick your brains! Lol!

Any help or suggestions???

Thank you in advance!!!

I would say start with fuses. In the back of owner manual there is a list of fuse with locations and size. Best of luck I'm sure some here may have more info

x2 on fuses, low hanging fruit first.

If nothing at the plug, trace wires backwards from the plug, sounds like something got crunched or burned on a hot part, but only got a couple wires and missed your 12V running light lead and the ground.

There's a 4 way and the RV 7-spade next to each other. Since you mentioned trlr brakes sounds like you're using the 7-way. Do you have turn signals coming out of the 4 way (two leads furthest from the ground)?

If you have a fifth wheel electrical socket in the bed, how's that one performing?

I will look at manual in the morning.

Not sure how something can get crunched out of the blue, but I will look. I am using the 7 round RV plug and didn't think of checking the 4 flat. I don't have anything that will plug into it, lol! All of my trailers are round plugs. :-) But I will check it with the tester.

I did do a quick glance at the fuses under the dash, but didn't see anything that stood out.

I don't have a 5th wheel hook up, just a gooseneck which plugs in at the bumper.

Visually inspect the wires behind the connector. Do those wires hook into a plug?
Is the plug wet? Inspect the ground wire and ensure it is connected solid. Sometimes the connection point can rust up.
Here are a few fuse numbers to check.
Fuse #13 20 Amp Stop Lamps, Center High-mount Stop Lamp, Trailer Tow Stop Lamp
Fuse #28 10 Amp Brake Shift Interlock, DRL Relay Coil, Speed Control Module, Backup Lamps, Trailer Tow Backup Lamp Relay Coil, ESOF Hub Lock.
Now in the other fuse panel look at these fuses....
Fuse #1 7.5 Amp Trailer Tow Left Stop/Turn Lamp
Fuse #3 7.5 Amp Trailer Tow Right Stop/Turn Lamp
Fuse #8 15 Amp Trailer Tow Electronic Brake Illumination, Park Lamps, Trailer Tow Park Lamp relay coil
Fuse #16 30 Amp Trailer Tow Battery Charge
Fuse #28 30 Amp Trailer Tow Electronic Brake Controller
Relay #38 Trailer Tow Backup Lamp Relay
Relay #39 Trailer Tow Battery Charge Relay
This is all out of my Early 99 Owners Manual.
