Power Brake Booster

My 66 F100 has been off the road almost 4 months. Life just got in the way.

Ive got two choices; the F100 or the Harley. Winter is upon us and I would like my DD to be the F100.

Im replacing all 4 wheel cylinders and the M/C.

I want to add a power brake booster.

I have a set of 66 firewall brackets, and a set off my 76 parts truck.

I cant find the 66 booster/mc anywhere.

Sometime next year Im going with PDB off my parts truck, but thats months away from now, and I need brakes yesterday.

I dont want to cut/hack/drill/massage anything.

Options?

Hey the old truck has made it this far without a booster, surely it can go through one more winter. Get it back on the road and get every thing ready for next spring big upgrade.

You're looking for a master cylinder you already have, are unaware what the boosters applications are.

Sometime next year I'm going with Power Disc Brakes from my parts truck.
C5TZ-2140-A .. Master Cylinder is the same with or without Power Brakes, so you already have it.

Applications: 1965/66 F100/250 2WD / 1966 F100/250 4WD.
----------------------------------------------------------
C5TZ-2005-C .. P/B Booster-6.75" O/A diameter / Bendix part number: 2504335

Applications: 1965/66 F100/250 2WD.

But, why go thru all the trouble/expense by adding a booster now, since you're planning to swap in disc brakes?

Disc brake booster will be different, as is the dual master cylinder, the brake lines and etc etc etc.

I found the MC/Booster at Bumper to Bumper, I paid a little more, but I have it and do not have to wait.

I mocked everything up and all looks well. The rod lines up perfectly with my brake pedal and the pedal sits in the same position as it did with the manual booster. All I have left to do is bench bleed the new MC and massage the brake line in place.

Do you have a vacuum line on that booster?

I see you've done the old drum booster and small reservoir...cool. All that'll go once the disc swap is done...
I'd drive her that way for the winter and spend the time getting the parts together so you can do it
all in a day...the right way!

Have the rotors turned (if used), new pads, proportioning valve, master/booster and new lines.

Once you do the swap, your pedal height will be lowered considerably...way more "comfy".
Best,
JBone

So why cant I use this booster when I do the discs?

Realistly Im probably a year away from the disc swap.

Im going to do column shift power steering at the same time.

I need to pull everything off the donor, sandblast, refurbish, paint, then install on my 66.

Today I got a little closer to getting on the road, both rear brakes are rebuilt, I will have to take the right rear apart again, the self adjusting cable is bad and I couldnt find one anywhere.

I still need to rebuild the fronts, I have the parts in hand for those.

The carb needs a rebuild and I have a bunch of little things that need attention for this to be a DD.

I don't think the booster you have is sufficient for discs, or has the right bolt pattern for the dual reservoir master
you'll need with your disc set up. Discs use a proportionately different amount of fluid than drums do...this is what
the proportioning valve does.

Ive pulled a bunch of MC off Fords in the j-yard. They all have the same 2 bolt pattern.

My plan is to put the MC and porportioning valve off a 93-ish F150.

I think it will fit and work just fine.

It will cost me less than $25 to find out.

Im quite interested in this as well I have a 66 with a single chamber cylinder. I want to go to power dual chamber in her since the truck has everything in the drums new including ceramic brake pads. I kinda just want to get a 73-79 from autozone and get the brackets off a junkyard truck and see how that goes.

1967: First year for dual master cylinders in FoMoCo Passenger Cars/F100/350's/Bronco's & Econolines.

1953/72 F100 2WD's came with front/rear drum brakes, as did 1959/75 F100 4WD's.

1973/79 F100 2WD's came with front disc brakes. Manual discs were standard equipment, power discs were optional.

1975/79 F150 2WD's came with power discs as standard equipment.
