Gas Tank Problem
I am hoping that someone out there can help me to solve this problem. I have a 89 F350 Dually with a 351 windsor (gasoline). It has two gas tanks and when I run on the rear tank the truck runs fine. However, when I switch over to the front tank while driving the engine runs for about 30 seconds then it begins to chug and there is a popping noise coming from the engine compartment before it dies. If i switch back over to the rear tank the truck runs fine. The truck will idle in the drive way on either tank with no problem. Any input would be greatly appreciated

It sounds like the valve isn't switching fully. These things are enough of a failure item, and cheap enough, that replacing them can be done as a diagnostic measure. I would also perform a fuel pressure test while it is running on the front tank.
Which part is it? I have the same problem.

Gas Tank Problem
The "dual-function reservoir" mounted inside the L frame rail near the rear axle. It has 6 fuel lines and a large round removeable bowl on the bottom, sort of like an oil filter. Don't ever remove the bowl until you have a replacement O-ring in hand.
