Fuel system ugh...
-Truck refuses to start just by turning the key and giving gas from cold start.
-Starts when dropping a bit of fuel down the choke lever on the carb, idles fine-ish slight miss at idle.
-Watching the fuel filter near the carb I do not see consitant flow at idle, filter emptys out and dies, turn the key and truck starts right up idles fine.
RPM's around 2200 it sounds like a machine gun, notice gas dripping from the choke leaver.
Miss is on passenger side of truck (open headers).
When doing a quick rev while warmed up it revs up fine untill I try and hold steady throttle. I hear the machine gun miss as I call it.
My mom accually made me think of carb, I assumed headgasket (truck sat for 2 months) She said she had a old lincoln did the same thing replaced the carb and it fixed the miss.
Not even sure where to start here, I have never owned a carburated vehicle. So links to information/books/videos trouble shooting would be appriciated...Going to buy a compression tester tomorrow. Just need ideas of what to check just incase.

BTW, 2 months of sitting isn't all that much. The last time I started my truck, it had set for a month and it took about 3 revolutions to get the engine started. Heck, my truck sat for 2 years before I bought it. Previous owner pulled it out of a garage and stuck a for sale sign on it. Thought the damn thing was gonna break down on me when I test drove it. Turned out to be a hardened accelerator pump diaphragm and deformed check valve.
I'll go out to the truck tomorrow and get some pictures.
Should also state this is my first vehicle with a carb, this is all new to me.
*EDIT* Did not see your second post, the truck has a manual choke, I have to get under the hood to choke and I am just unsure about doing it. I know I was starting it wrong, but in the summertime I'd flip the key and it would start right up without gas or anything. So i think I need to do a bit more research on that.
This is my first major mechanical adventure, i've rebuilt both axles, and the transfer case was just going to turn the truck around to change oil pan gasket and flush the coolant out.
Compression is good...Always have to check never know :/
Checked fuel lines, rusty but no leaks (checked while truck is running)
I am just going to go ahead and replace fuel lines/filter/pump just to be safe.
Still not able to find model number of carb, and I can't get pictures from my phone to my pc :/
It is a edelbrock carb though, I found one on jegs that looks similar

Only difference I see is mine has manual choke.
I'll try and get pictures later tonight.
