I have an 01 4x4 Escape recently its making a drowning sound like around 20 mph and up in the front sounded like pass side.I replaced the cv joint and the other shaft with the bearing that comes out of the trans.also the rt. front wheel bearing and there is no change. Now I'm like stuck could it be the rear drive shaft, transfer case or in the trans?Anyone else have this issue?
A little more info. this thing sounds like an indy cars exhaust then when it warms up it gets quieter. Then it sounds like loud tires but the tone doesn't change if you go over hills, curves or anything.Changed the transfer case lube today no debris in the old fluid.Thinking about taking rear drive shaft out.Bolts look kind of rusty.
