Decode Request

Good Morning Gents,
I just acquired a 1965 F100 beauty this last weekend after a very very long search. I've been trying to find VIN/Dataplate decoding apps out there and have found VIN info but not dataplate info. SO I'm goin to post here in hopes that one of you sage info wizards can give me a hand. I really appreciate it.

VIN: F10JD661638

Dataplate: 115 M F100 E81 G 09
5000 129 4000 62

I know it used to be an I-6 with 3 on the tree. It now have a 1974 302 with the GT40 heads. The trans was swapped for an FMX floor shifter and the 9" rear has been re-geared to .300. I plan on putting in a T-5 WC 5-speed and possibly re-gear or swap out the rear end. Also have some old parts for a PS add-on as well as a drum-to-disc conversion.

Thanks guys!
Sean

I've been trying to find VIN/WarrantyPlate decoding apps out there and have found VIN info but not the Warranty Plate info.

I know it used to be an I-6 with 3 on the tree. It now has a 1974 302 with GT40 heads. The trans was swapped for an FMX (You sure it's an FMX? Has 14 trans pan bolt holes).

VIN: F10JD661638 // W.B. 115 / COLOR: M / MODEL: F100 / BODY: E81 / TRANS: G / AXLE: 09 / MAX GVW: 5000 / CERT. NET HP: 129 / RPM: 4000 / DSO: 62
F10 = F100 2WD

J = 240 1V I-6.

D = Dallas TX Assembly Plant.

661638 = 1965, assembled March 1965.

115" Wheelbase.

M = Wimbledon White.

F100 2WD, 5,000 lbs. GVWR

E81: E = Red Crush Vinyl & Red Ladder Pattern Woven Plastic / 81 = 81B CUstom Cab.

G = C4 Cruise-O-Matic (11 trans pan bolt holes). If it was a 3 M/T originally, the TRANS code would be A. Still want a clutch pedal?

09 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 3.70-1 / no Limited Slip / 3,300 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity.

5,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.

129 net HP @ 4,000 RPM

62 = Dallas TX Ford District Sales Office, where the original selling dealer ordered the truck from.

FMX: 1969/85 misc Passenger Cars / 1973/77 F350 300 I-6.

The styled aluminum wheels on your truck are from a 1977/96 F150. The chromed plastic hubcaps (Ford: Ornaments) are retained to the wheels with chrome screws and nylon self threading anchors.

Wiggle the hubcaps to see if they're loose. When these hubcaps are R&R'd a coupla times, the anchors no longer have the ability to retain them in place.

Whiz around a corner, hubcaps will fly off...taking the anchors and screws along with them. Not pleasant!

The anchors are available from Ford. Buy a package, cuz you'll need them sooner or later. Hubcaps are obsolete, are available NOS. Weren't cheap originally, expect to pay, at minumum: 50 bucks...each.

D7TZ-1A100-A .. Nylon Anchor-Use with Styled Aluminum Wheels.

MSRP each: $0.93 / FTE sponsor tousleyfordparts.com price each: $0.62.

These come in a package of 12 / Tousley Ford ~ White Bear Lake MN

Thank you! I really appreciate the information on the dataplate AND the center caps. I'm just about to order the rebuild kit for the T5 and get moving on the swap out. Again, thank you for all the info. It looks like it's been a Texas truck it's entire life.

More Ford trucks sold new in TX than anywhere else. CA follows TX in 2nd place.
