I had trouble finding 5W-20 oil for my 2003 2.3L engine. I went to a few autoparts stores and got the deer in the headlight look and most recommended 5W-30. Was shopping at Walmart for garden supplies and I got a case of Ford Motorcraft 5W-20 synthetic blend oil for $21.24. They only had 1 case in stock.
Originally posted by shieldsy In my manual it says that the SAE 5W-30 oil used in the 4.0L should meet Ford Spec WSS-M2C205-A.
I'm using Pennzoil SAE 5W-20 in my 2.3 (all I could find).
Right what im saying is all major 5w-30 oil passes that and its not even on the bottle normally.
With the 5w-20 spec its different, some major oil brands dont pass it. Which ones escape me at this point. If i had a 2.3 or an engine that called for the 5w-20, I would either run 5w-30 in it or make sure my 5w-20 oil passes the strict ford spec.
