Need help. The truck:2001 f350 ext. cab dually utility body 7.3 auto trans 6 whl dr.
The problem: Something let loose while I was unloading a boat off a trailer. I lost PARK and 1st on my column shifter. There is a whole lot of slop in the column linkage. It shift fine when driving and has reverse, neutral, drive, 2nd but can't get Park or 1st. I'm stressing out with the hurricane here and this is my 1 and only service truck for my marine business. And the Parking Brake sticks so I don't use it. Chocking the wheels every time I get out is out of the question. Truck is un-driveable at this point. Whats broke? Easy fix? Time is crucial.
Thanks in advance
Matt
Forum search yielded many. Thanks. I was nailed by this hurricane, 16" of water in my house and finally able to get back to my truck issues. One Torx screw tightened and the other would not. Removed both screws and found part of the aluminum casting where one of the Torx screws goes is snapped off. In the meantime I tightened the one screw and it took enough of the play out to get Reverse back but still no Park. Drive and 2nd no issue. Whats involved in disassembling this to repair? I normally fix most all my own stuff as I know its done right but with boat winterizings piling up and no rental truck available yet, I'm thinking taking it to the Ford dealer. Any other options? Thanks. Matt.
